He specialises in classical music styles, and can assist with preparation for music exams, music theory, or simply help you learn how to play your favourite pieces, just for fun. Nicholas holds a PhD in music, which has equipped him with a unique specialist knowledge in relation to piano performance and pedagogical history, and endeavours to keep up to date with the latest research and theory on piano pedagogy. In addition to his academic qualifications, Nicholas is able to bring his own extensive experience as a pianist working in a variety of contexts. He can coach you in the finer points of piano technique, practice methods, improvisation, time management skills, ensemble skills and more. Above all, Nicholas is highly passionate about music, and is eager to share his expertise and experience to help you achieve your piano-playing dreams!
In terms of pedagogical approach, Nicholas endeavours to provide students with a thorough technical foundation and knowledge of music theory and styles, in order that they can play the piano with ease and confidence, and explore the creative and expressive aspects of piano-playing.
