1824 John Broadwood & Sons
I've lately been spending lots of time with one of the stars of the historical keyboard collection at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). A grand pianoforte built in London in 1824 by John Broadwood & Sons. The instrument has a fascinating provenance, as it was originally purchased on 14 August 1824 by Andrew Ashe, one of the great flautists of the era who played in Haydn's London orchestra. It has recently undergone a meticulous restoration by the master craftsmen at Piano's Maene in Belgium and it is sounding truly wonderful!
